Why?

"We will get it  because we were so careless about who we elected; so mesmerized by empty rhetoric and so zombified by the promises of hopenchange."  Charles Krauthammer

All that's left to do is to make as many as possible pay politically and to take defensive moves to insulate your family from the coming apocalypse.

IMHO we have 4 years, max, to get ready for a great depression.   Expect an upturn as the Obama admin does everything possible to avoid a rout in 2010 and then a slide as the reality of what happened comes home to roost.    This doesn't mean they will slink silently into the night.   What it means is that they will be willing to take more and more of the country under their control under the guise of "too big to fail" or some other crisis that fits their master plan.

Moody's, speaking of the US credit rating and the possibility of downgrading it to AA said this.

“Growth alone will not resolve an increasingly complicated debt equation,” Moody’s said. “Preserving debt affordability” — the ratio of interest payments to government revenue — “at levels consistent with Aaa ratings will invariably require fiscal adjustments of a magnitude that, in some cases, will test social cohesion.”

Test Social Cohesion is diplomate speak for riots when the poor masses discover that there is no more free cheese.

Our goal should be to make sure that our own personal cheese is safely stashed away where no one.  Especially the government, can get to it.

That will be a difficult task as the government becomes more and more desperate to find someone else to blame for the collapse.

A cornered rat is a dangerous animal.

On that happy note, I leave you with a quote.

Alexander Tytler:

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

Welcome to  "From apathy to dependence;"
